There is a sticker on the box that says "2-step on/off" ... and at first I thought I bought the wrong thing. I had wanted the kind that you press your foot on to operate, and then it automatically turns off when you release the foot pressure. THIS IS NOT THAT TYPE OF FOOTSWITCH. (I think that's called a deadman switch). But, lucky for me ... I like this one better. I prefer to work standing up and be able to move around a little for a better view or grip ... which means I can't always keep my foot on the pedal.This is the switch where you step on it once to turn it on, and it stays on. You have to click it again, in order to turn the power off. As it turned out, this works better for me. Either way, you can turn it on or off and keep your hands on your woodwork.
